Evolution of My Training

Image
While making these blogs, I reflected on the training I was doing at th at time. It was interesting how different my training was and if you remember back in my first parkrun post, to me, it didn't make sense . This got me thinking about how my training plan progressed and what were the key events tha t changed it.   So, let’s take a look at the evolution of my training.   Now, at beginning, just before my first parkrun I had no idea how to make a training plan. I knew that some days should focus on speed , and some should focus on distance, but that was about it. I didn’t know what a recovery run , intervals or tempo run was. So, for the first month my training was all over the place. There wa s ver y little consistency between weeks, and for the most part it looked like I did what ever I felt like . Notable things I would do during this period included  not run ning over 5k, running on a Sunday, and a strange ob session with the 1 mile, since I like...

Parkrun Stories

Over the last two years I have done over 100 parkruns . Therefore, I have had a lot of random experiences during these parkruns . However, a lot of these stories are not that long to have their own blog post. So, I have decide d to combine these stories together into one blog post, as I do find them interesting, and wish to t ell them.   Alright , the first story took place in the University of Stirling parkrun back in October of 2023. Now, a little background. This was my second attempt at the University of Stirling parkrun since my first time was back in the summer of 2022. I wasn’t happy with my first attempt, so I was very determined to get a huge Pb. However , the previous weekend I was sick, so my fitness took a bit of a dro p.   (Image description: Me before the start of the University of Stirling parkrun) Now, on the day I was feeling good. I managed to recover some of my fitness during the week. So, during the first 3k I was running fast, and was ahead of...

Doing a 10k for the First Time

Image
After doing 5k every weekend at the Parkrun, you start getting bored. You try to get a personal best. You don’t . Try again next week. Then you decide to do a 10K to bring back the excitement.   That is basically why I decided to do my first 10K.   Back in the end of 2022 was tough time for my running. I had a sore hip; bad weather and I got a job. Therefore, my training wasn’t very good . To deal with the sore hip I decided to do side planks which helped, but I knew I needed a new challenge for the new year as the parkruns were starting to get boring. Then my mum sent me a picture of the Portadown that was taking place in March, and I immediately k new that I was going to do it .    To prepare for the 10K I decided to create a trai ni ng plan . So, I watched a couple of YouTube videos and created my training plan. O n Mo nday I would do my recovery run. On Tuesday I would do 10* 400m . On Wednesday I would do a long run . On Thursday I woul...
